Online anxiety therapy, for the days it takes the wheel

Some days anxiety is background noise. Some days it's the whole room.

It shows up uninvited. Tightens your chest. Makes your thoughts loud. Leaves you feeling far away, or frozen, or like you're bracing for something you can't even name.

That's the exhausting part. Not knowing what you're bracing for.

If that's where you are right now, you're not imagining it. And you're not the only one. Our registered anxiety therapists work with people across Canada through online anxiety therapy for anxiety, panic, social anxiety, GAD, or OCD, at a pace that's yours.

Therapy for the whole you, not just the anxiety

You're more than a set of symptoms. So that's not where we start.
Our therapists work with the whole picture. The anxiety, yes. But also all the life it's all happening inside. The goal isn't just to feel understood, though that matters. It's to help you feel more like yourself again.
These are some of the people who'd be in your corner.

The kinds of anxiety we work with

Anxiety doesn't show up the same way for everyone.
For some it's a low hum that never quite stops. For others it's panic that hits out of nowhere. The loop of OCD. The dread of a room full of people.
Wherever yours lands, there's a therapist here who works with it.

We can help with:

How CBT for Anxiety Works

Talking helps. But anxiety usually needs more than talking about it.

A number of our therapists work with CBT, cognitive behavioral therapy, one of the most studied approaches for anxiety. Online CBT for anxiety means looking at the thoughts and patterns that keep the worry running, and learning practical tools to interrupt them.

In practice, that can look like a few things. Noticing the spiral before it takes hold. Testing an anxious thought against what's actually true. Building small daily habits that, over time, change how you respond to stress. Your therapist works through it with you, step by step, at a pace that fits.

Cognitive behavioral therapy for anxiety is structured and hands-on. The tools are yours to keep, and most people use them long after the sessions end.

What online CBT for anxiety can help with

CBT works across the range of anxiety, generalized anxiety, social anxiety, panic, and health anxiety. The approach shifts depending on what you're dealing with, but the core stays the same: understanding what fuels the worry, then building tools to respond to it differently. Whether it's the constant background hum of GAD or the sharp spike of a panic attack, the work meets the specific shape of your anxiety.

Online Anxiety Therapy: Frequently Asked Questions

Is what I'm feeling "bad enough" for therapy?

You don't have to be in crisis to reach out. A lot of people wait because they think their anxiety isn't serious enough to take up a therapist's time. If worry, panic, or racing thoughts keep showing up and getting in the way of how you want to live, that's reason enough. The free consultation is a low-pressure way to talk it through and see if therapy makes sense for you.

Will talking about my anxiety make it worse?

This is a common worry, and a fair one. Therapy isn't about pushing you to dig into the hardest things before you're ready. Your therapist follows your pace. A lot of the work is learning to notice what anxiety does in your body and mind, and building practical ways to steady yourself. Many people find that naming what's going on, with support, makes it feel more manageable rather than bigger.

Do I have to take medication?

No. The therapists at The Dot are psychotherapists and social workers, not prescribers, so therapy here does not involve medication. Some people use therapy on its own, and some use it alongside medication their doctor has prescribed. Either way is fine. What works for you is something you stay in charge of.

Does online anxiety therapy actually work?

Research shows virtual therapy can be as effective as in-person sessions for anxiety for many people. You meet with the same licensed therapists and do the same kind of work, without the commute or the waiting room. Many clients find it easier to open up from a space where they already feel comfortable.

What happens in the free consultation?

It's a 20-minute conversation, not a session or an assessment. You can share a bit about what's going on, ask questions, and get a feel for how we work. There's no cost and no commitment. If it feels like a fit, we'll talk about next steps. If not, that's completely okay.

What if I don't click with my therapist?

We match you based on what you're dealing with and what you're looking for, not just who has an opening, because the relationship is a big part of what makes therapy work. The consultation lets you get a sense of your therapist before you commit. If the fit isn't right once you start, tell us. We would rather help you find someone who suits you than have you stay somewhere that doesn't feel comfortable.

Are sessions covered by insurance?

Many extended health plans cover psychotherapy or social work, though coverage depends on your specific plan and your therapist's designation. It's worth checking what your plan includes. You can find current rates on our Fees & Insurance page, and we're glad to answer questions during the consultation.
