Therapy Can Help You Move Forward When Life Feels Overwhelming

Life is full of changes, starting university, switching jobs, moving out for the first time, navigating relationships, or figuring out who you are outside of the expectations of your family. These transitional times can be exciting, but they can also bring anxiety, shame or even anger. You might feel like you should have everything under control, but the truth is, no one teaches us how to handle the big shifts in life. That’s where therapy comes in.

As a psychotherapist, I work with young people and professionals who are facing grief, major life changes, anxiety, depression, insecurity, and self-doubt. I also help folks who are adjusting to life on their own for the first time and balancing school, work, and relationships. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of yourself, you don’t have to figure it all out alone. The great thing about therapy is that it’s the one time that you get to really just explore what’s going on for you, and not have to take care of anyone else.

Therapy is More Than Talking, It’s a Relationship Built on Trust and Understanding

I believe therapy should feel like a conversation, not a test. In our first session, I’ll be curious about what’s been on your mind, what support looks like for you, and how you want to approach therapy. If you’re not sure where to start, that’s okay, I can guide our conversation, or you can take the lead. There’s no “right way” to do therapy, and I want you to take what’s helpful and leave the rest.

I also understand that shame can show up in different ways, whether it’s around relationships, family dynamics, career decisions, or even finances (as a former accountant, I really get the financial one!) If you’ve been carrying guilt or self-doubt about past choices, I want you to know that therapy isn’t about judgment. It’s about understanding yourself, learning new ways to cope, and building a life that feels like yours.

Grief can feel isolating, but you don’t have to go through it alone

Offering grief support holds a special place in my heart. As someone who lost a close family member as a teen, I know that losing someone you love changes you. Whether your loss was recent or happened years ago, grief has a way of shaping how you see yourself and the world around you. It can feel lonely, confusing, or like you should be “over it” by now. But grief doesn’t follow a timeline, and it doesn’t have to be something you carry alone. In therapy, you can process your loss at your own pace, with no pressure or expectations. Whether you need to talk, make sense of complicated emotions, or just have someone sit with you in it, I’m here to help you navigate the weight of loss in a way that feels supportive and healing.

A Little About Me

Before becoming a therapist, I spent over a decade in corporate business management and accounting. At the time, I loved the structure, the clarity, and the sense of control those fields gave me. After a while, I got tired of just thinking of life in black and white, right or wrong. As I worked through my own earlier experiences with my own therapist, I realized that real healing requires more than just logic and problem-solving.

That’s why when I decided to become a therapist myself, I was drawn to Gestalt therapy. This mental health approach embraces the different shades of grey in life, and allows for creativity, connection, and exploring emotions in therapy in a way that feels natural and not so clinical. Gestalt also helped me realize that I didn’t need outside validation for my feelings to be real, something I now help my clients discover for themselves.

I’m Here to Support You in Building a Life That Feels True to You

Therapy isn’t about changing who you are, it’s about understanding yourself better. Sometimes that means setting boundaries, even (or especially) with family. It can be taking a leap, whether that’s trying something new, making a tough decision, or letting go of an old belief that no longer serves you.

My focus during our time together is to make sure you feel heard and seen, and to give you caring support, and heartfelt honesty. I’ll be with you when you experience deep feelings, and other moments I may gently nudge you when you’re holding yourself back. When right, I incorporate breathwork and body awareness, because sometimes emotions live in the body in ways words can’t fully capture. And yes, there will be moments of humour and laughter, too. Therapy doesn’t have to feel heavy all the time.
