Grief & Loss Counselling

“ But when I do feel all the strength go out of me, and I fall to my knees beside the table and I think I cry, then, or at least I want to, and everything inside me screams for just one more kiss, one more word, one more glance, one more.”

Veronica Roth

It’s the unexpected that changes our lives.

When we love deeply, our loss can also hit us just as deeply.

Grief is a natural response to loss. It’s the emotional suffering you feel when something or someone you love is taken away. Often, the pain of loss can feel overwhelming. You may experience all kinds of difficult and unexpected emotions, from shock or anger to disbelief, guilt, and profound sadness. The pain of grief can also disrupt your physical health, making it difficult to sleep, eat, or even think straight.

The end of something important in your life - whether it’s the death of a loved one (human or pet), the end of a relationship, or an unexpected finish that leaves you shocked - can bring intense numbness and pain. It can be an isolating time, since the experience is so personal. Whatever type of loss you’ve suffered, there’s no right or wrong way to grieve.

We know that coping with the loss of someone or something you love is one of life’s biggest challenges… but you don’t have to do this alone.

Our counsellors can support and guide you through this change.

Counselling is available to help you process your grief, share your story, and explore the deeper questions about your life that can often come with loss.

While grief can be extremely painful, it is also an opportunity for profound change. Whatever the cause of your grief, there are healthy ways to cope with the pain that, in time, can ease your sadness and help you come to terms with your loss, find new meaning, and eventually move on with your life.

We promise to nurture a space to help you share your stories, memories, and hopes - as you are - and to process your feelings to help you find your center again.

We view grief and loss counselling as a joint process between you and your therapist working towards a common goal — to process the difficult feelings, help you make sense of what happened, what it means for you, and to support you with the difficulties that life can sometimes bring at the end.

As mental health care professionals, our purpose is to help you find your ground and to support you in making space for your grieving.

We will look at your current struggles to help you understand how you’re feeling overwhelmed and stuck. From there we will help you support the pain and process the difficult feelings you have.

Our hope at the end of our sessions is that you will process the experience and grow, finding more meaning in your life as a result.

Or, let us help you find that right therapist fit.

The form takes less than 60 seconds to complete, and we’ll reach out with a couple of options for a free 20 minute consultation.
