Feel like you get stuck in survival mode?

Sometimes, our perceptions of current situations are linked to an ‘original traumatic event’ that leave us feeling trapped, angry or lost.

Memories from that event can be triggered through sights, sounds or smells. Once triggered, the stored distress of the original trauma memory are mistakenly experienced when the brain accesses the emotions, thoughts, beliefs and physical sensations that occurred at the time of the event. This can create an overwhelming feeling of being back in that moment, or being “frozen in time.” In this way, your brain gets stuck in permanent fight/flight mode.

EMDR therapy helps unblock your brain so you can start to naturally recover. EMDR has a direct effect on the way your brain processes information, releasing emotional experiences that are trapped in your nervous system. In simple terms, EMDR therapy helps ‘unblock’ the brain’s processing so that traumatic memories can become ‘ordinary’ memories. Repeated studies show that working with EMDR, people can rapidly experience the benefits of psychotherapy that once took years to make a difference.

Does EMDR Therapy Work Online?

Absolutely. Since Covid, much research has been done to test the efficacy of providing EMDR therapy virtually and it has been shown to work just as well online as it does in person. For example, gentle tapping (which you - the client control the pace of) can be used in place of eye movements and it provides equal benefits.
All our therapists are very experienced in online therapy, so if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to book a free 20 min consultation so you can see if online EMDR therapy is right for you.

Our trained EMDR therapists will help guide you to safety.

Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, PTSD or any other challenges that are impacting your life, our trained EMDR therapist can help you with the issues that you find hard to face on your own. Unlike other treatments that focus on directly altering the emotions, thoughts and responses resulting from traumatic experiences, EMDR therapy focuses directly on the memory.

By allowing your brain to resume its natural healing process by changing the way that your memory is stored, you will see a reduction and eventually an elimination of your symptoms.  If you want to feel empowered to overcome the obstacles that are hindering your well-being, we can help.

Or, let us help you find that right therapist fit.

The form takes less than 60 seconds to complete, and we’ll reach out with a couple of options for a free 20 minute consultation.

Our approach to counselling and psychotherapy supports the process of reconnecting with your inner wisdom, so you can heal and grow.

EMDR Therapy Guide

We view counselling as a joint process between you and your counsellor working towards a common goal — to empower change and improve the quality of your life — both now and in the future.

As mental health care professionals, our purpose is to help you identify your obstacles, help you find your path and discover opportunities for growth along the way.

We will look at your current situation more in-depth to help you understand what’s holding you back and what’s causing you to feel so overwhelmed. From there we will get to the heart of your difficulties, make a plan, and help you develop the skills you need so you can better manage or resolve what’s troubling you.

Our goal is that by the end of our sessions you will not only have found relief, but you will feel empowered to boldly grow forward towards the life you want.
