Counselling can help you to tune in, trust your inner wisdom and to build the confidence to speak your truth to the world.

As a therapist, I’m here to support you as you begin to find your way to healing the hurts or resolving the life challenges that have motivated you to reach out.  I am a Registered Psychotherapist with a BA (Hons) in Psychology from York University and a Master of Counselling from City University of Seattle. People see me to learn how to build better relationships with their loved ones, heal from trauma, overcome chronic worrying, process loss, improve work/life or school/life balance, manage perfectionism and navigate big life transitions.

Your life experiences may be the source of your trauma, but they can also be a part of your healing.

I have a passion and strong belief in humanistic therapy. With this form of therapy, your unique views, perspectives, and history are embraced and integrated into your therapeutic care. This means that your therapy is very individual to you, we may use many different modalities, or just one or two, depending on your needs. I believe in the power of the “here and now” perspective, which means that what is going on in your life currently is what we should address first, and how your past habits are getting you stuck today. With the right help, you can get back in tune with what you need and as we explore your strengths and points of growth, you can become an expert navigator of your life.

I understand what it means to struggle emotionally

I come to this career with my own lived experiences. Starting at a young age, I dealt with anxiety and low self-esteem. By high school, when I had my first boyfriend, I worried the majority of the relationship that I was not enough. I experienced loss in different forms during my teenage years and carried grief in my heart for a long time. I learned that grief comes from many different types of losses, not just death. The effects of grief can be felt from moving homes, changing jobs, the ending of a relationship, or the world shutting down when we are told we can’t spend time with our loved ones. Through these challenges with grief and insecurity, I know now that getting therapy then would have been life-changing.

As an adult, I’ve now processed those difficult times with a counsellor and having someone to speak about that has helped me to accept the things I can’t change and focus on what I am able to do. This journey has made me especially passionate about helping others with anxiety, self-esteem and relationship challenges.

I became interested in being a Psychotherapist while working at a shelter for homeless and at-risk individuals

After going to university, I took some time off and volunteered at a facility for at-risk individuals who had lived tough lives. These people coped by relying on unhealthy habits that left many homeless and on the brink of ruin. I began to recognize patterns in the history they shared; traumatic experiences, loss, broken relationships, and undiagnosed mental health issues. These people, had they only seen a mental health provider sooner, may not have fallen quite so hard in their lives. This inspired me to begin investigating how to become a therapist.

Your past doesn’t have to dictate your future

If the trauma from your past is impacting your life today, you have options, and therapy may help. You don’t have to just survive (although it’s okay if that’s all you feel you can do right now), you can thrive. With the right tools and support, you can be the author of the next chapter of your life, and it can be a story of resilience and empowerment.

I help people choose a different path, find a way to truly look forward to tomorrow, and enjoy the present moment.

I am here to give you support so that you can grow and flourish in life. You deserve to feel love, joy and peace in your day-to-day life. If what I’ve shared resonates with you, reach out and book a consultation.
