Your Life May Be Full Of Ups And Downs - Therapy Can Be A Place To Find Peace and Empowerment

There is so much about life that is not in your control, but seeing a therapist is a small and important step towards personal empowerment. I believe that people heal people, and that healing comes when you feel you’ve been truly heard, by someone who listens with compassion, understanding, and respect. Human connection, at its deepest level, is about being seen, heard, and understood without judgment.

I’m a Registered Social Worker and I’ve been working in the field of mental health for over 15 years. I am fully fluent in both French and English and am happy to conduct sessions in either language. I work with people aged 14 years and older, people often see me for support with trauma, anxiety, relationship issues, depression, and identity. I am queer myself and offer affirming care for people looking for a safe space to explore gender and sexuality.

What To Expect in Our Psychotherapy Sessions

One thing to know is that I’m here for you, and this time is yours. We will talk about what’s brought you to therapy, what’s working in your life and what’s not. Then we’ll work on a plan to get you to feel more at peace and in control in your day-to-day life. I use a variety of approaches in session with clients, with my go-to being EMDR - a type of therapy that is often helpful for trauma - be it PTSD, Complex PTSD, and other forms such as childhood abuse/neglect, or traumatic events in adulthood.

How I Became a Therapist

It’s been a journey! I can say I wish I had started earlier - because I love what I do. When I was younger, I wanted to become an Olympian hockey player - I went to the University of Toronto to play for the Women’s Varsity Blues, but an injury quickly put an end to that dream. After that, I went to Concordia University in Quebec to study Fine Arts (a passion I’ve had since childhood) with a minor in Psychology. I began to see the appeal of art therapy and was inching towards that when I moved back to Toronto.

After having a child with my then partner, I got a job as a child and youth worker - and was able to use my therapy training to help children and families. From there, I became determined to get more skills and credentials and went through York University’s Social Work Master’s program. Along the way, I began seeing my own therapist - and worked on deep grief from my childhood. This healing and processing made me so grateful that we live in a time where mental health care is becoming increasingly accessible and less stigmatized.

It Is Never Too Late to Seek Support

Sometimes, when you’ve been hurting for so long, it can be hard to imagine a different way of being in the world. This is why I focus on providing a supportive environment during our therapy sessions where you can explore your story, develop new ways of managing stress and strong feelings and achieve personal growth.

I believe in the power of therapy to bring about positive change and I’m here to support you on your journey to healing and well-being. I’m accepting new clients - feel free to reach out to book your free consultation.
