I can help you get to the root of what’s keeping you up at night

Something that doesn’t get talked about enough, when it comes to therapy, is that the simple act of sharing your worries, regrets, and struggles with someone else, out loud, can in itself create great relief.

As a therapist, I offer support for people (ages 13 years and older) struggling with many different challenges, such as regret, shame, anxiety, fears, phobias, grief, big life changes, and learning how to navigate challenging relationships. Much of my job is to listen with both my head, and my heart, to your story. People come to me with big burdens they’ve been carrying, regret about actions, hidden shame about behaviour during a moment of anger, or grief about the loss of a loved one and the way they may have left things.

You don’t have to be ruled by your fear, phobias, or anxiety

Life is pretty stressful for many right now. It’s understandable if you’ve gotten into the habit of just avoiding or hiding away from what brings up anxiety, but there is another way. Maybe you felt strongly about something in the past, but now you’re unsure, and confused about how to let go of old beliefs and fears. I’m here to offer an unbiased perspective, to help you talk through things, and see if a different approach could bring you relief, and a more peaceful life.

Grief is an experience that I was introduced to very early on

As a woman raised in a multiracial home, 1st generation Canadian, and one where my parents divorced before my 6th birthday, I had many moments of loss, feeling like an outsider, and one particular moment of grief that truly changed the trajectory of my life. When I was just a child, my big brother died unexpectedly. The  questions that brought up for me, the feelings, and the yearning to understand is one that changed me. It triggered a deep desire to know more than I did about spirituality and faith as well.

I have a deep well of compassion and understanding for those experiencing grief, loss, and have questions about death and dying that are not so easily answered.

Feelings can seem overwhelming if you aren’t used to allowing yourself to have them

Did you grow up in a home where you were praised for being calm, or happy? Were emotions like anger or sadness frowned upon? It could be that for a long time you were able to keep these “bad” feelings in check, but now they keep bubbling to the surface, sometimes leaving damaged relationships, or even careers in the aftermath.

Not knowing how to manage emotions actually makes complete sense, if you weren’t taught as a child how to feel your emotions - you were only praised for repressing them. The good news? You can learn as an adult how to express emotions so that you get released, but without hurting those around you, in fact, with the right support, sharing your emotions can connect you more deeply with your loved ones, or colleagues. You’ll end up feeling heard, understood, and in turn, you may also find your tolerance for the feelings of others also increases.

As your therapist, I am here to help you choose the seeds for your future self

Your journey in therapy is one of growth and self-discovery, and a deeply personal one. In sessions, you may see some big changes right away, or it may be a slow process, like a rose moving from bud to bloom. We work together by clearing out the things from your soil that are no longer serving you. Then you’ll be able to see more clearly what you want your future to look like. Knowing yourself, and what you want, can bring about lasting change, and a better day to day life.
